I’ve never been one for making New Year’s resolutions because I know myself; I’d either forget what they were (thanks ADHD) or make an excuse not to follow through, then feel guilty for failing. Resolutions are not my thing, but goal-setting is.
I often receive messages from spouses, some asking for advice, some just wanting to introduce themselves. Recently, I received the email below. This one hit home with me because I can relate to her loneliness and struggle with mental illness. My heart truly went out to her. With her permission, I’ve included her email and my response.
It’s inevitable that some time in your life, you’re going to receive particularly disappointing news whether it’s a diagnosis, a break-up, lay off, loss of a loved one or something else that takes the wind out of your sails.
